Suzhou Olympic Sports Center (SOSC)

is located in Suzhou Industrial Park, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, China.
Construction began on September 29, 2013, and on September 1, 2018, the project was fully opened.

With a total gross floor area of approximately 386,000 square meters

Suzhou Olympic Sports Center is a multi-functional and ecological Grade A sports center integrating sports competition, leisure and fitness, commercial entertainment and cultural performances,including a stadium, two halls (gymnasium, swimming pool) and other sports buildings,as well as ancillary commercial and leisure and entertainment facilities, such as the Suzhou Sports Plaza and the outdoor sports park.
In December 2019, Suzhou Olympic Sports Center won the Luban Award for China Construction Engineering (National Quality Project);
in July 2020, Suzhou Olympic Sports Center was recognized as the third batch of sports service complexes in Jiangsu Province;
and on September 27, 2021, Suzhou Olympic Sports Center was awarded the 18th Zhan Tianyou Prize for China Civil Engineering.

Suzhou Olympic Sports Center is located in Suzhou Industrial Park

close to CWD (Central Cultural District) and Hudong core area in the north,
and adjacent to the center of Xietang area in the south across the Xietang River,
about 8km away from the old city of Suzhou, and about 2.5km away from the Jinji Lake.
The stadium of Suzhou Industrial Park SportsCenter is made of PTFE film,
with a total projectionarea of about 33000㎡.
lt is the only stadiumcovered with single cable net in China.

The stadium roof of Suzhou Olympic Sports Center is currently the largest single-layer cable membrane structure in East Asia

the roof of the stadium is covered with PTFE membrane and adopts single-layer cable membrane structure.

The beautifully curved roof of the stadium is like the flying eaves of the pavilion, forming the high point of the landscape area.
When viewed from near and far, it constitutes a very characteristic sports building complex.

The stadium adopts V-shaped steel column column foot joint bearings that can slide freely in multiple directions

which is the first time that the concept of joint bearing design is applied to construction projects in China,
giving the stadium a light, elegant and soothing dexterous posture.

The stadium also adopts 800 meters of super-long concrete structure, large suspended prestressed beams, BRB supports, section steel concrete columns, bonded prestressed structures, etc.

In the design of Suzhou Olympic Sports Center, the free curve layout makes people feel like they are in a garden.

The architectural monolithic skirts are as gentle and elegant as a hill

and the light and elegant stadiums are like pavilions sitting on top of a rockery by the water,
like a picturesque landscape in a traditional Suzhou garden.

Its unique structure creates the record of the largest span of single-layer cable mesh membrane structure in China and the largest heteromorphic single-layer cable mesh membrane structure system in the world.

Whether in design or construction, it embodies the advanced level of China’s infrastructure everywhere,
and plays an exemplary role in the industry.

Suzhou Olympic Sports Center stadium construction area of 91,000 square meters

the design capacity of about 45,000 seats, the main function involves track and field, soccer, large-scale performing arts and other activities, the building height of about 52 meters, the roof of the large-span cable membrane structure, light and transparent, elegant and large. The maximum span is about 260 meters.

In the use of new materials, the stadium bold breakthroughs

through the use of ultra-long concrete composite anti-cracking waterproofing agent, high-strength steel,polymer pre-laying anti-adhesive waterproofing roll-roofing,polymer thermal insulation and moisturizing maintenance film, deep bearing platform GRC formwork system and other new materials, practicing the concept of environmental protection, and the formation of a demonstration force in the industry.
