ETFE Membrane Structure Project for Performing Arts Plaza of Beijing World Parks Congress

With the theme of “Green Life, Beautiful Homeland”,

the Beijing World Expo has put into practice the idea of building an ecological civilization.

The Gui Yuan Theatre is the heart of one of the most important “Four Pavilions and One Heart” buildings of

the Beijing World Parks Congress.

At the foot of the Great Wall, on the banks of the Gui Shui River, with colorful butterflies,

the Gui Yuan Theatre mirrors the natural lakes and mountains,

and the fantastic colors are full of the Chinese cultural meaning of butterflies in love with flowers.

In addition to the opening and closing ceremonies of the World Parks Expo,

the theater will also be responsible for important national days,

international forums and a variety of performances during the Expo.

The design and construction of the Gui River Bend Theatre highlights the beauty of cultural confidence,

technological innovation and ecological civilization, leaving a unique architectural legacy for the 2019 World Expo.

Located on the north side of the International Pavilion of the World’s Fair and across the lake from the China Pavilion,

the Gui River Bend Theatre has a total construction area of 6,335 square meters, a building height of 20 meters,

a main steel structure roof wing span of 120 meters X 115 meters,

and the main steel structure of the Performing Arts Plaza consists of 26 bays of steel truss,

with the main body overhanging a maximum of 47 meters.
